Ummmmm this is awkward, I don't really know where to start. Sooooo remember yesterday when I talked about not comparing yourself to others because it was like.....stupid and like self destructive and you should only really compete against yourself......that was like cool and I totally meant every word of it because it's true. But you know what, sometimes competition done in the right way is healthy and cool too :) Like, it can even be AWESOME.
The CrossFit Games are coming up and in order to qualify as an individual or gym you have to do the following:
The CrossFit Games Open Qualifiers is a six week, worldwide competition in the sport of fitness. It is the first step in the CrossFit Games season, and takes place from March 15 until April 24. There is one workout per week, and athletes compete to qualify for the CrossFit Games. The workouts are varied, and no one knows what they will be from week to week.
Everyone gets a weekly score based on their ranking for that workout (low score is better). Weekly scores are added together to get the overall score. At the end of the six weeks, athletes with the lowest scores are the winners.
There are four categories of competition happening simultaneously: Men, Women, Teams, and Masters. The team competition is not separate. All the members of the teams are already competing as individuals. Team scores are the sums of their best athletes' scores. There are Official Teams that meet the requirements for qualification for Regionals, and Other Teams (who do not qualify) that can be made up of any combination of athletes. The Masters category is eight separate categories (four age groups each for men and women).
The top 60 men and top 60 women from each of the 17 regions around the world are qualified to compete at their respective Regional.
The top 30 teams from each region are invited to compete at their respective Regional.

So if you have any interest at all in competing/participating, even if you don't want to compete but would like to do the workouts that everyone will be doing CrossFit Wide email me or talk to me in class and let's get this going :)
A lot of you have met Jon Lyon, he's a good friend that trains out at CrossFit Bellevue and has come to our gym a couple of times. The first athlete the games chose to profile was Jon, here is the story on him and some of his stats. Those that have met him, worked out with him or watched him compete knows he's an animal. He's got a lot of hype behind him for this upcoming year and I know he'll live up to it, he's a beast and I'm excited to watch him compete.
Always remember Jons good side.
