Workout of the Day (WOD)

First.  You have no idea how excited I am for this first announcement.  There are over 2000 gyms represented so far in the CrossFit Open.  CrossFit Interbay has been open almost 1 1/2 years and while I don't consider ourselves a strict competition gym, we are a gym that's awesome, good mixtures of personalities with people that want to work hard and that have great camraderie.  So when the CrossFit Open came up and we have 54 people registered so far, that's half our members.  This has us currently ranked 95th in the world for number of participants in a gym.  2,000 gyms in the world are represented and our small tight gym is in the top 100 with more people still ready to register so we may get into the top 75.  Other gyms are doing this with 300, 400 and 500+ members.  CFIB is doing this with around 100 members.  This is a testament to how tight we are.  I'm very excited by this number.

Yes they announced the first WOD of the CrossFit's 7 minutes as many burpees as you can.  At first I wanted something a little more creative especially for our special event we're throwing Friday night.  Then I thought, what a perfect WOD to have with a gym full of people around, cheering you on and feeding you their energy & excitement.  I wouldn't want to do this alone, this is going to be a grind but a fast grind because 7 minutes will go by quick.  So this is the perfect WOD for Friday.  Come by each person doing this will need your energy.

CFIB is up to 54 members registered for the Open.

Again, we will kick off the Open Friday.  All classes will run the 2012 CrossFit Open WOD #1.  As always we will scale the workout to suit each persons 100%.

We will run normal classes during the day but once 4pm hits, then we will run non-stop heats all night.  Still come in your regular time unless you want to come in early to watch and definitely stay late to cheer others on and meet everyone else in the gym, hang out, have some snacks and a few beverages. 

Everyone's welcome to come by.  And for those of you early risers, even if you come in and do the workout in the morning, try and stop by in the evening to cheer others on and to join in the festivities.

Even though the first WOD is announced, It's still not too late to register at  You have until the end of this week to register.

 A few fun facts about the 2012 CrossFit Open.  1.  There are over 50,000 people registered world wide and the number keeps increasing.  We won't get a final number until Sunday.  2. Over 1,500 Teams are registered with over 3,000 different gyms represented in the Open. and 3.  There are over 200 Gyms in the Northwest Region with only the top 30 making it to Regionals.  Let's have fun, work hard and hope for the best :-)
