Workout of the Day (WOD)

So I came across a version of this on Facebook.  I am posting it here for a couple reasons.  First, some people have asked why we don’t sell supplements and other items out of our gym.  We have many reasons but one of them is we feel our time is better spent coaching you and building community.  Not to say that if the need arose and it was a product that we truly believed in we wouldn’t change our minds .  .  . eh unlikely but anyway, I felt that this statement summed it up pretty good.  We also felt that although this is not directed at my members, it expressed what we are striving for at our box . .  I did edit this some from the original version and I added some things :-)

If you're here for the money, turn around now.  

See, we do not need another paleo snack pack or cookie.  We have got enough compression and our shoes work just fine.  I do not want your “special” barbells and, by the way, buying an entire gym takes years not minutes.  We do not need a "revolutionary med ball" either.  Your “special” gear will not make my times faster or my lifts heavier, and checking in my clients is pretty easy when it consists of a hug and a hello.

Your shiny coated wodbook does what my folder does.  However, I would recommend a great App – WodZilla (designed for CrossFitters by a CrossFitter in our gym!)

Your print ads do not convince me, and your supplement won't do anything I can't accomplish in a grocery store.  You see, we are not a business opportunity or the next big thing.  We are not a consumer demographic.

Rather, we are a Community united, real people on a mission, unyielding in our pursuit of progress in health and fitness.

Teach us to be better.  Push human performance forward.  Help us to figure out how to better serve our clients, the men and women learning to air squat for the first time, the eighteen year old kid who wants to compete.  Give us tools that matter, give us education, make your value so obvious that you could sell it without saying a word.

Give us a reason, just one, to love what you do, to bring you into the fold.  Focus on excellence, on contribution, on being an asset to this Community.  Find a need, find a deficit, fill it with overwhelming force.

Please show us that money is the last thing on your mind. Show us that you're one of us, on a mission to build a better world, show us that you matter.
