TAKE CARE OF YOUR FEET,

YOU MAYBE WALKING ON THEM FOR SOME TIME!

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR FEET HAPPY!

Sleep in…wait until the afternoon to buy shoes.  Feet expand during the day and may also swell.

Plan Ahead-Wear the same type of socks that you intend to wear with the shoe you wish to buy.

Humans are not symmetrical.   Hands and feet may not be the same size.  Get both feet measured-- every time you buy a new pair of shoes. Buy a shoe that fits the larger foot.

Don’t be lazy.  STAND UP IN THE SHOES.  Unless you plan not to walk in them!   Make sure while standing that there is at least a quarter to ½ inch of space between the longest toe and the end of the shoe.  Remember the big toe is not always the longest toe.  Not sure?  Take a peek at your foot for a quick reminder!  Still not sure—there is probably an app for this. :-)

Don’t fall for the old adage, the shoes need to be “broken in” or they will “stretch with time”.  Buy shoes that fit now!

Don’t trust size or description.  Sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.  The advertisement may say the shoe is like walking on air, but you are walking on the ground.  You are the judge of comfortable.  If you have to buy a larger size, do it.   Most people don’t go looking in other people’s shoes for the size…unless they have anosmia.

Look for RED Flags-Feel the inside of the shoe for tags, seams, or other material that could cause irritation or blisters.

Look at the soles of the shoe.  Are they sturdy enough to provide the protection needed?  Is there enough cushioning?  Take a test walk on carpet and a hard surface if possible.

Lastly, if it feels good, looks good and you like the shoe—consider buying it!..Happy feet to all!
