Workout of the Day (WOD)

Friday 4/14/17

Congratulations to Erika on the birth of her son , Hazard Douglas Jackson, he was born healthy and they are both doing well.

A quick story from Erika, if you haven't heard she was in a car accident the day before she gave birth to Hazard.

Here is the story from Erika:

I have to share a quick story with you. So with the car accident and having additional trauma to my belly, I had to deliver Hazard via C-Section. He was showing slight signs of distress, so we had to move quickly.

This was my second C-Section. I had an idea of what to expect and the related sensations, but it was still a shock, he was going to be delivered two weeks earlier than I anticipated.

After he was delivered and the doctors were sewing me up, one of the surgeons commented "oh wow, you have strong little stomach muscles here". Through the discomfort, I commented behind the curtain, "CrossFit." The only person to hear me say this was the anesthesiologist, who then promptly relayed that message to entire OR. I guess if you are going to promote functional fitness, might as well do it during major surgery right?

I want to thank Erin and Ron for providing me with a community of fitness that has lead to the healthiest possible outcome of recent events. I don't think I would've been able to pop out of the car as fast as I did after being hit or find myself walking comfortably around the maternity ward, if it hadn't been for CrossFit. Recovering from surgery is hard and painful, but without the discipline of working through the suck that CFIB has provided me, I don't think I'd be as happy as I am now.

Pass my love on to everyone at the gym and thank you!

Some people think Michael Jackson "Thriller" video is one of the greatest music videos of all time.  I have to disagree, this video has the King of Pop beaten by a lot.  The music doesn't start until 3 minutes but the whole video is worth watching.
