I grew up in the greater Seattle area and developed a love for the outdoors and being active at a young age. As a family we would hike, snowboard, and take advantage of all of the wonderful things the Pacific North West has to offer. I did gymnastics and cheerleading throughout school, but after I graduated I felt the absence of organized sports and spent years bouncing around to different exercise activities. Hot Yoga, Zumba, running, and just generally working out at a traditional gym never quite satisfied my competitive side and need for some kind of structure.
In 2011 I moved to Oahu, Hawaii with my now fiancé, Kyle. He was in the army and I had seen him and his buddies (as I was dutifully running on the treadmill) doing workouts off of the CrossFit main site at the gym. I eventually got curious (also bored) and walked into a CrossFit box early in 2013 and signed up that day for their fundamentals program. I fell in love my very first class. Here at last I found the community atmosphere, opportunity to learn new skills, and chance to push my body that I had been craving. At the suggestion of the owners I went and got my CF L-1 in August of 2013, and began coaching a few days a week. I discovered that I loved helping others learn CrossFit just as much as I loved doing it myself, and the rest is history.
I continued to coach part-time at my gym in Hawaii until we moved in 2014 to New Jersey, where I found another part-time coaching position and a wonderful community in Hoboken, NJ. I was also bartending and teaching HIIT classes at the same time. I made it my dream to coach CrossFit full-time, and when we moved back to the Seattle area in the summer of 2016 that dream became a reality. I am grateful every day for the chance I have been given to help others achieve their goals and change their lives for the better, and so thankful to be a part of a community that never fails to inspire me and teach me new things.
